Surat Thani ( สุราษฎร์ธานี )

Koh Tao, Surat Thani Surat Thani name itself means "City of the Good People". The province located on the east coast of the Thailand and about 645 km from Bangkok, next from Chumphon and it is the largest province in Southern province. Surat Thani is well known as the city of Thousand Islands Koh Samui, Surat Thaniwhich locates in the coast in the Gulf of Thailand. The famous islands for tourist are Koh Samui, Koh Pha Ngan , Koh Tao and nowadays become perfect for the vacationers around the world. In addition, Surat Thani is perfect and has various type of  tourist attraction such as mountains , caves and waterfalls. Mostly local people in the province are agriculturist ( palm oil, rubber, coconut, and fruits). The local rambutan is one of best favor of Thai rambutan in the Thailand.

By Train

Using train from Bangkok (Hua Lamphong Station) to Surat Thani train station spends time from 10.50 hr- 11.22 hr depend on type of train. The trip takes approximately 12-13 hours. Phun Phin station is 12 km away from downtown, the visitor can use bus, taxi or mini van in from of the station to downtown or ferry port ( Donsak or Tapi ). Check time and price on table below. Songkhla ( Place to Visit )

Simila beach is a famous destination and located at Golden Mermaid statue, Songkhla the north of Songkhla Lake next from Laem Son Onn. The beach stretches long to Laem Simila to the south of the beach. The character of the beach is beautiful white sand beach, the water was not very deep and suitable for swimming and become relaxing place for the visitors. In addition, it is a great viewpoint for the famous mice and rat islands. The major landmark of the beach is the Golden Mermaid statue, a prominent symbol of Songkhla.

Sai Kaew Beach This is one of the most beautiful beaches for scenic coastline with long sandy beach approximately 3 kilometers and ideal for swimming. It is peace and wonderful natural from pine trees parallel along the beach and good to make overnight stay.

Koh Yo is a large island in Songkhla Lake for history of Songkhla  residence for more than 100 years. Wat Hat Yai Nai is located on Phetchakasem Road and well known for the attractive of large reclining Buddha measuring 35 metres long , 15 metres tall and 10 metres wide. The Buddha is named Phra Phuttha Hattha Mongkhon, has an interesting face, giving different expressions depending on the angle you look from and believe that this large Buddha is the third largest reclining Buddha in the world. This is the one of the center point for Buddhists from nearby province, Bangkok as well as visitors from Malaysia and Singapore.

Tone Nga Chang Waterfall  The waterfall is beautiful and very famous of the southern province. It has 7 tier waterfalls which The third most famous for the reason the water split into two lines like ivory. The waterfall is located on Tone Nga Chang national wildlife park and the visitor is possible to trekking distance more than 1 km from first to 7 tiers.

Trang sea map Koh Mook The name of Koh Mook may not well know as Morakot Cave (Emerald Cave) as the cave is the most attraction place for visitors for journey to Trang. Emerald Cave (Morakot Cave ) is located on the west side of Koh Mook and become one of the fantastic place to visit in Thailand. The cave can be reaching only by boat and has an entrance on the bottom of high-rising cliffs which is narrow but wide enough ( not more than 10 m ) for boats to pass through during low tide about and 80 m long . Most of the visitors prefer to swim one by one into the entrance cave, after pass to the other side the reflection of the sea create the emerald color from the sunlight of the midday will straight through the mouth of the funnel.

How to go to Koh Mook

The island is about 9 km from Kuan Tung Ku Pier ,the North West of Hat Chao Mai National Park. The visitors can use boat service from Kuan Tung Ku Pier and about 40 baht charge per person. It takes about 30 min to Koh Mook and you need to rent a long tail boat to Morakot Cave( about 100 baht per person). Another way is to rent the boat from Pak Meng Pier straight to Morakot Cave at Koh Muk. The rate is 1800 baht/day talking about 40 minutes.

 

Koh Ngai is one of the attractions of Trang sea, The island is actually located in Krabi province as same as Rok Island. Koh Ngai is located only 12 kilometers from Koh Lanta, Krabi and 15 kilometers from Pak Meng Pier, Trang Province. The visitor can take the trip from Pak Meng pier easier.

Koh Ngai is close to other attractions of the Trang Sea, just 1.5 kilometers away from Koh Mar, just 3 kilometers from Koh Chuek. Koh Ngai has measure about 4*2 kilometers with white sand beach, fantastic corral and the coast is covered by coconut palms.

How to go to Koh Ngai

The visitors can use Speed ​​Boat service operating daily from Pak Meng. It will take a trip from Pak Meng Pier - Koh Ngai about 20 minutes.

 

Koh Rok  Rok Island has long beaches with white sandy. The island is suitable for tourist who looking for quite and romantic natural. This is a fine swimming area while it is perfect coral reef and under water world. The island is taken care under Lanta National park as same as Koh Ngai but is the last tourist destination boundary of Trang Sea. Koh Rok comprises two islands namely Koh Rok and Nok and Koh Rok Nai. The distance between the two islands is about 250 m cut across by the water channel while the two sandy beaches of each island confront each other as a beautiful sunset point.

How to go to Koh Rok 

By public boat of Libong Travel (package) leaving Pak Meng Pier at 09.00 hr and departing Koh Rok at 14.00 hr. It takes about 2.30 hours between Koh Rok and Pak Meng Pier. There is also the package tour from Saladan Pier at Koh Lanta to Koh Rok by speedboats or long tail boat. It takes about 1.30 hours by long tail boats.

 

Koh Kradan is one of the most beautiful island in Trang and most of the island belongs to Hat Chao Mai National Park. The powdery white beach and crystal-clear water that permits a great view of the coral reef underneath that stretches from the beach's northern end to the coast are attractive for all visitors. A variety of colorful fish inhabit the shallow water corals making the site perfect for snorkeling.

How to go to Koh Rok 

Koh Kradan is to the west of Koh Muk and Koh Libong. Visitors can take a boat from Pak Meng Pier to Koh Kradan. The trip takes 1.30 hours.

 

Chao Mai National Park covers Kantang district and Sikao District of Trang province.  The national park is famous tropical Rain Forest, Lime stone Forest, Beach Forest and Mangrove Forest. The marine ecosystem iDungong  at Chao Mai National Parks Coral reef and is included in 137 square  kilometers of sea. The sea area has some 8 kinds of sea grass Between Koh Muk and Koh Yong Ling which provides a home to Dugong which may be the last group of Dungong in Thailand. The national park consist of various attractions Chang Lang Beach, San Beach, Pak Meng Beach ,Yao Beach, Yong Ling Beach, Chao Mai Beach. Moreover, there are 7 other islands in the Trang Sea for which the park is responsible. They are Ko Muk, Ko Kradan, Ko Chuak, Ko Pling, Ko Waen, Ko Meng, and Ko Chao Mai.

From Trang province take highway no 4046 (Trang - Sikao) to Highway no 30, turn left to local Highway No. 4162 to Pak Meng Beach, distance about 40 kilometers. At Pak Meng Beach, turn left and follow along the beach road, about 7 kilometers to the Hat Chao Mai National Park. Total distance 47 kilometers.

Hot Springs and Raksawarin Arboretum 1

Hot Springs and Raksawarin Arboretum is a top tourist   destination in Ranong province. The hot spring consist of 3 pools which the temperature of the water about 65 degrees Celsius and suitable for drinking and bathing. Surrounding the hot springs is a deep shaded forest called 'Raksawarin', where resting pavilions and wash rooms have been provided for the visitor's comfort.

Bang Ben beach is the head quarter of the park which has long and wide stretch beach, backed by shady casuarinas and unspoiled of natural. The tourist attractions such as Laem Son beach is away from Bang Ben beach about 4 km to the North. It is a good peaceful spot and good for bird watching. Visitors can manage the boat trip out to many islands around such as Ko Khang Khao and Ko Kam Yai.

November - April is the best time to visit Laem Son National Park.

Ko Kod Kra (kew Kra)  is located in Thap Lamu sub district Km no. 545 of highway, 66 kilometers from Ranong downtown, this area is the narrowest point of Malay Peninsula by the distance between East to West Only 44 km. This is a popular attraction for visitors to take a photo of panoramic view of the Kraburi river which borders Thailand – Burma.

Wat Khuhaphimuk (Wat Na Tham)It is one of the three important temple in South of Wat Khuhaphimuk2Thailand as Wat Phra Mahathat ( Nakhon Si Thammarat )  and Wat Phra Borommathat Chaiya (Surat Thani ). The temple show the bright history of Buddhism in southern province since the Srivijaya Empire The temple is located in Tambon Na Tham, 8 kilometers from Yala downtown along the route to Iaha district. The name Wat Na Tham means 'A temple in front of a cave’ since this temple has the cave contains an ancient reclining Buddha almost 30m long and the site is believed to have been established in the year 757.

How to get there: temple is 8km from Yala downtown. Visitor can use Hat Yala- Hat Yai ( Songkhla ) bus service and ask the driver to drop off at the Temple. It is a 700m walk from the junction to the temple.
Betong district  is located on the most south of Thailand on Highway 410 and about 140 km  from Yala downtown. It is the gateway  boarder to Malaysia and Singapore. The town is surrounde by high mountains and fantastic atmosphere. The flowers can be grown beautiful all year as the result Betong district has been call 'A Town in the Mist with Beautiful Flowers'.

Trang is a province on the Indian Ocean side with about 119 km long of coastal on the west side. Satun national park

Tarutao National Park is the first marine national park in Thailand which surrounding of 50 Islands. Two large group of Island are Tarutao and Mu Ko Adang - Rawi. Tarutao National Park is well known for its history and natural attractions of rain forest, fantastic bay, with beautiful white sand beaches. The waters are shallow and rich of deep coral reef and colorful fish species as it is home to dolphins and sea turtles, while whales and dugongs, although rare, have also been spotted. In year 1982, UNESCO announced Tarutao National Park is World Heritage of ASEAN (ASEAN Heritage Parks and Reserves) Tarutao National Park is a unique tourist destination with various great interests as Koh Kai has a natural stone arch spanning between sand and water. Koh Lipe has been called Maldives of Thailand or white and crystal water with full of coral reefs around the island of Koh Ravi is ideal for snorkeling. As the result, Tarutao National Park still has many attractions to show for every visitor.

Getting There
Ferry boats depart regularly from Pak Bara, 60 km. northwest of Satun town, taking 1-2 hours for the journey. Boats may also be hired from the piers at Ko Nok, Tammalang and Chebilang.

Koh Adang and Koh Rawi and are located close together and comes to naming as the twin islands. It is rich of natural resources for tourism, clear waters as very appreciate for underwater world with beautiful coral reef and small or large fishes. Getting There
The boat leaves from Pak Bara Pier at 10.30 am and will stop at the Tarutao National Park before traveling to Koh Adang and Koh Lipe island . The boat will return from Koh Lipe at 09.00 am of next day, the boat price for return is 800 Baht.

 

Koh Lipe is one of island in Tarutao National park in the southern of Andaman sea, 45km from Trutao island and 62 km from Pak Bara pier .Koh Lipe, Satun Lipe is the center of the tourist of the national park as it is the stop point of the boat from Pak Bara pier in the evening. It is white sandy beaches and crystal clear waters make it a perfect destination for a beach holiday. There are 3 main beaches on Koh Lipe, all within 15 minutes walking distance. The tourist is possible to make one day trip around the islands group as each island is nearby islands such as Koh Adang, Koh Rawi, Koh Hin Ngam Island and end up the trip to Koh Lipe in the evening before depart to Satun in next day.
