Yala (ยะลา)

Yala province is approximately 1,055 kms from Bangkok by train and is only one of 14 southern provinces that is not next to the sea. The slogan of Yala is "A beautiful border town, southernmost of Siam” because the province is the southernmost of Thailand near the Malaysian border. In the history Yala is a part of Pattani kingdom. Yala geography is mostly mountains and covered with forests but has very little flat land with many interesting, culture, history and beautiful scenery. The province has a unique mixture of cultural heritage of several groups of Thai, Chinese, and Islam.

By air
There are no direct flights to Yala. The visitors need to take the flight to Hat Yai  the nearest airport. There are 4 airlines operating service route from Bangkok to Hat Yai (Songkhla) airport Thai airways and cheap Thai airline Nok Air , Orient Thai and Thai Airasia. From Hat Yai , visitors can either take the train, bus, taxi, or air-conditioned van ( recommend to take van from airport as it is faster ) to Yala.
