Suvarnabhumi International Airport was awarded in 10th position for Skytrax’s World Airport Awards 2011 (Best Airports by size of Airport - airports handling 30 to 50 million passengers annually) .

The World Airport Awards are based on 12 million survey questionnaires completed by over 100 different nationalities of airline customers during the nine month survey period in 2011/2012, covering more than 388 airports worldwide. The industry survey is totally independent and evaluates traveler experiences across 39 different airport service and product factors, from check-in, arrivals, transfers, shopping, security and immigration through to departure at the gate.

Transportation in Bangkok

Bangkok is one of the biggest cities in the whole of Asia and is also considered as South East Asia’s leading business centers. This is a cosmopolitan city where people from all countries visit. The city is very crowded and there is plenty of traffic congestion in this city. It is therefore most of the visitors who make their plans for Thailand vacations must be aware about the public transport system. These public transport helps you reach your destination on time and are also very convenient. Apart from public transport, there are other modes of transport as well. Let us discuss them.

The arrival visitor can use Airport link service from Airport Link express train, Bangkok the connection with Suvarnabhumi International Airport and Bangkok city center. The operating hour between 6.00 am until midnight. The service has 2 routes The express line which can reach the city center in 15-17 minutes and city Line which make 6 stops can reach in 30 minutes. Trains arrive every 15 minutes for both routes. The Airport Rail Link also connect to other public transportation in Bangkok for instance MRT underground at Makkasan City Interchange Station and the Skytrain ( BTS ) at Phayathai Station. Sky Train – Sky Trains or BTS are elevated trains and which runs on 2 lines. The routes of the Sky Train are from Bearing to MoChit and from The National Stadium to Wongwian Yai. The traveler can shift from one train to another train at the Siam Station which is also the central station. More information bts.co.th

MRT - The MRT underground service operating 18 stations through the heart of downtown Bangkok from Bangsue to Hua Lumphong railway station and connects to the Skytrain ( BTS ) at 3 stations: Silom, Sukhumvit and Chatuchak weekend market. Rivers and Canals – Bangkok is popularly known as the Venice of the East mainly because the city has got plenty of canals which are used for transportation. This is a very good option to avoid all the traffic jams and at the same time, you can also see the beautiful city during your travel. The most famous canal is the San Saeb Canal. Along the Chao Phraya River, you can find boats which will take you to many different temples in Bangkok such as Wat Arun, Grand Palace Complex, Wat Pho etc.

Roads - If you are planning your visit to this beautiful city, you will find a couple of elevated highways and motorways. This method  eases a lot of traffic jams on the roads. Even better, there are trains and boats to take you to your destination in case you find the congestion to be out of control. Railway – Local trains are not air-conditioned but the express trains which travels from Bangkok to other countries are air-conditioned. Hua Lamphong Station is the main railway station in Bangkok. The other famous station is Bang Sue Train Station, which is also the 2nd largest station in Bangkok.

Tuk Tuk – Tuk Tuk are 3 wheelers which are considered as one of the most convenient public transport system to travel within Bangkok city. Depending upon the distance, the fares are charged which begins from 30 Baht.

Air Travel – You can also find cheap Thai airlines to take you to the other provinces from Bangkok. The 2 main airports in Bangkok are Suvarnabhumi Airport and Don Muang Airport
